The school was awarded the Lee Kuan Yew National Education Award in 2005 and 2010 for being exemplary in spearheading efforts to promote national pride, history and education. The school was made the Centre of Excellence for National Education for the West 5 Cluster.

The Time Trekker Base Camp was set up in the school in July 2004. It was formerly called the National Education Hub and was officially re-launched on 16 November 2006 by Mr. Liang Eng Hwa, MP for Holland Bukit Timah GRC and Mrs. Susan Chan, Deputy Director of Schools (West) after undergoing a complete re-design and upgrade to better engage students on National Education matters.

The Time Trekker Base Camp is now both a resource and visual learning centre for students and teachers. It provides a visual timeline indicating the development of the Singapore story, from the country’s founding through the nation building years and tries to predict the future landscape of our beloved nation.

In 2012, the school was accorded the West Zone Centre of Excellence (COE) in Character and Citizenship Education (CCE). Since then, the school has been has been actively supporting the professional development of educators in the West Zone through its numerous seminars, workshops and provision of CCE-related resources to schools.
